How does the subnet mask of a subnetted network differ from the default mask of an unsubnetted network?

Answer: The subnet mask of a subnetted network contains the binary value ‘1’ for the bits that were borrowed from the hostid for subnetting. For the default subnet mask the hostid bits all have the value ‘0’.
